The First Class Finish

There a lot of questions when it comes to the lease-end process. Many questions are asked, such as “I don’t understand the lease-end process”. Hopefully we can clarify this process for you.

About 90 to 180 days prior to your maturity date, you will be contacted by a dealer representative to schedule a pre- lease-end inspection and to discuss the options you have. The following is the new procedure.

As part of the The First Class Finish® , your Mercedes-Benz dealership will conduct a lease-end inspection at time of return. We recommend that you visit the dealership at least 90 days prior to return for a pre-inspection. This will provide you with ample time to make any necessary repairs required as indicated on the pre-inspection report.

Make sure to have all keys, keyless entry devices, and the maintenance booklet present at turn-in to help avoid excess charges at the end of your lease.

At the end of your lease, you may be responsible for amounts including, but not limited to:

  • Any unpaid or overdue amounts
  • Vehicle Turn-In fee
  • Any unofficial fees or taxes (i.e. property taxes, parking tickets)
  • Fees for missing keys
  • Excess mileage and excess wear and use charges (if applicable)

The charges listed above will be included on your lease-end statement. You will receive this statement from the dealership at time of turn-in (exceptions apply)

If a security deposit or mileage refund is applicable, it will be applied toward the above-mentioned fees. Any remaining amounts will be refunded to you separately from your lease-end statement.

If unrepaired damage exists on your vehicle, you may be able to file an insurance claim with your insurance company. Repairs should be completed prior to your maturity date. Please remember that you are contractually responsible for the vehicle until Mercedes-Benz Financial has taken possession.

Insurance Information
Vehicle insurance coverage should not be cancelled until after you have returned the vehicle to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership.

Returning your Vehicle
Please make arrangements with the dealership to return your vehcile prior to the conclusion of your lease. You should attempt to return the vehicle to the dealership that delivered it to you. If you are unable to do so, arrangements may be made with any authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership. Please call the Lease Return Manager at the dealership to schedule your vehicle return.

Odometer Statement
At the time you return your vehicle, you will be asked to electronically sign a Federal Odometer Disclosure Statement. The dealership will then present you a printed copy of the Federal Odometer Disclosure Statement with your signature on it. An odometer Statement is legally required so if you will not be present at the time of vehicle return.
