What Does Electric Range Mean?

For about a century, cars didn’t vary a whole lot. Sure, their appearances were altered drastically over the years, but the basic setup under the hood didn’t change very much. But, with the advent of electric vehicles, there’s been a big shift in the industry.

Driving Range Explained

Driving range is pretty simple – it’s the number of miles an electric car can travel when its battery is completely charged. This number can vary pretty widely, depending on the vehicle. Generally it is between 200 and 400 miles.

A Mercedes-Benz EV with Excellent Range

Mercedes-Benz is in the process of producing several electric vehicles or transforming gas-powered models into EVs. One car available now is the 2022 EQS.

The base EQS 450+ comes with an electric motor and a 107.8-kWh lithium-ion, and it has a driving range of 350 miles. The EQS 580 has two electric motors and a 107.8-kWh lithium-ion, and this one has a driving range of 340 miles. Both numbers are outstanding for the class.

Charging Your Electric Vehicle

In order to get to the maximum driving range, you will need to charge up your EQS. With Level 2 charging – which consists of a 240-volt outlet – this sedan can get fully charged in about 11 hours. With DC fast charging, the car can go from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.
