Mercedes-Benz Service Tips: How to Change a Flat Tire

Safety First

Before starting to change your flat tire, make sure that your vehicle is parked on a level surface, away from traffic. Engage the parking brake and turn on the hazards.

Gather Your Tools

To change the flat tire, you will need the following:

• Spare tire
• Jack
• Lug wrench
• Flashlight
• Gloves (optional but recommended)
• Reflective triangles

Loosen Lug Nuts

Grab the lug wrench and gently loosen the nuts on the flat tire, but don’t remove them just yet.

Elevate the Vehicle

Check the manual on your Mercedes-Benz car for its lift point. Position the jack underneath that point and carefully raise the vehicle until the flat tire is off the ground.

Remove the Flat Tire

Remove the fully loosened lug nuts and take off the flat tire, placing it out of the way in a safe location.

Install the Spare Tire

Align your spare tire with the wheel bolts and gently push it onto the hub. Secure it in place by tightening the lug nuts.

Lower the Vehicle

Carefully lower your Mercedes-Benz car onto the ground using the jack. Have the spare tire touch the ground but not bear the full weight.

Tighten the Lug Nuts

Using the lug wrench, tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even distribution of pressure.

Lower the Vehicle Completely

Now that the spare tire is completely on, lower the car completely to the ground the remove the jack.
