Once activated, PRESAFE® can tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof. On newer, appropriately equipped vehicles, PRESAFE® Sound adds another thoughtful measure. Depending on the Mercedes-Benz model and equipment, additional PRESAFE® technologies can prepare for other types of impacts. PRESAFE® Impulse Side can rapidly inflate an air chamber in the front-seat bolster to help move an occupant farther from the side of an anticipated collision. Available PRESAFE® PLUS can also respond when certain rear-end collisions are detected as imminent, extending the system’s protective preparation beyond frontal-impact scenarios.
