Mercedes-AMG® Inaugurates Affalterbach Racing GmbH

Racing is steeped in the history of Mercedes-Benz, as the company started building race cars over a century ago. To this day, the carmaker is heavily involved in racing, as Mercedes-AMG® PETRONAS is one of the premier Formula One teams. Recently the company announced an exciting development, and Mercedes-Benz of Los Angeles has the details.

Brand-New Company

Thanks to the continued popularity of racing, Mercedes-Benz AMG® has launched a new, standalone company focused exclusively on consumer racing. Called Affalterbach Racing GmbH, it is based at the AMG® headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany. The company already has race cars built to GT2, GT3, and GT4 regulations.

New and Fantastic Offerings

One of the first tasks for Affalterbach Racing GmbH is to create a GT3 race car based on the Mercedes-AMG® GT sports car. That’s just the jumping-off point, however. Thanks to the knowledge of the experts on the team, they plan to quickly and efficiently develop Mercedes-Benz AMG® road cars. However, this new endeavor won’t change the AMG® Motorsport division. It will continue to oversee the Mercedes-Benz global motorsports program, including Formula One.
